Keep Your Documents Current 

To hold a permit, you need to keep all three of these valid: 

• Valid driver’s license 
• Valid vehicle registration 
• Proof of insurance 

If any of them expires or changes, tell Preferred Parking right away at 704-375-6014 or info@preferredparking.com. If you don’t, your parking privileges can be revoked immediately without a refund. 

Changing Vehicles 

Your permit covers one registered vehicle in one assigned lot. It doesn’t move with you to a different car on its own. If you change vehicles for any reason, contact Preferred Parking immediately — an unregistered car in a JWU lot can be ticketed or towed. 

If You Get Towed 

Parking without a valid permit can get your vehicle ticketed or towed at your expense. 

• Towed from Lot B or Lot D: call Preferred Parking at 704-375-6014. 
• Towed from Lot A (the employee lot): call Campus Safety & Security at 980-598-1900. 

When Lots Fill Up 

Parking is first-come, first-served, so plan to arrive early on busy days. Once university parking fills, there are commercial lots and decks nearby you can use. Those lots aren’t owned or operated by Johnson & Wales, and any agreement you make there is between you and the operator. 

Parking Rules 

Vehicles parked on university property are subject to these rules: 

• Your permit is valid only for the vehicle it was issued to, only in the lot listed on it and only for the dates shown. 
• Park inside a marked space, without blocking another space or a travel lane. 
• Vehicles in serious violation — blocking a fire lane, sitting in a travel lane, boxing in another car — are towed without notice at the owner’s expense. 
• The speed limit anywhere on university property is 5 mph. 
• Permits are non-refundable. You may move a permit to another vehicle you own only with approval from Preferred Parking.  
• Vehicles may be searched for cause on request. 
• A Campus Safety officer on the scene decides whether a vehicle gets ticketed or towed. 
• Breaking these rules or driving carelessly on campus can cost you your parking privileges and lead to disciplinary action.
