PBS News Hour came to Providence to report on colleges shortening the path to a bachelor’s degree. More than 90 JWU students are on the three-year track, taking 90 to 96 credits over six semesters instead of the usual 120.

A former hotel becomes a residence hall

JWU is spending $42 million to turn a former DoubleTree hotel on the Charlotte campus into The Maple. The 97,000-square-foot building will hold 150 rooms for upper-class students, plus an admissions welcome center and student services in one place.

High schoolers try out a culinary career

More than 80 high school students from around the country spent a week in JWU’s kitchen labs through Career Explorations. They learned to make raspberry petit gâteaux and prep an Italian dinner while deciding whether cooking is the career they want.
