Student Support Services in N.C.
Support for North Carolina Students
While dedicated faculty, coaches and tutors support your academic success, caring staff, counselors and nurses are here to nurture your mind, body and well-being. Here’s how we’re here for you outside of the classroom.
Counseling Services
Our Counseling Services providers offer free, confidential mental health support for both commuting and resident students. We offer short-term individual therapy, group therapy and crisis intervention to help students manage concerns such as anxiety, depression and loneliness. We also provide referrals for long-term or specialized off-campus care.
Health Services
JWU’s Health Services are clinics operated by licensed medical professionals including nurse practitioners, registered nurses and physicians. Enrolled JWU students receive direct health services at no cost, regardless of insurance carrier. We emphasize prevention of health problems and offer including management of medical records and immunization compliance, combined with referrals to hospitals and specialists when needed.
Student Support & Advocacy Services
JWU’s Student Support & Advocacy Services (SSAS) provide confidential support, advocacy and crisis management for students facing complex personal or academic barriers such as experiencing relationship violence, resolving conflicts or exploring personal identities. SASS works closely with The Bridge to help you navigate campus resources and coordinates with Residential Life, Campus Safety and Equity & Compliance.
