*How is the Career Outcomes Rate calculated? Our universitywide rate represents the percentage of graduates who, within six months of earning their degree, are employed, continuing their education, serving in the military or performing voluntary service. The statistic is a combination of data from 2023-24 associate and bachelor’s degree graduates and is based on a knowledge rate of 69.9%; this rate defines the percentage of graduates for which the institution has reasonable and verifiable information concerning the graduates’ postgraduation career activities. JWU’s Career Outcomes Rate follows the standards set by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Updated in September 2025.

Nol Foretia ’16
After earning his B.S. in Culinary Nutrition with a concentration in Clinical/Dietetics from Johnson & Wales University, Foretia embarked on a career path toward becoming an executive performance chef. Today, he helps fuel the Pittsburgh Pirates, in addition to being a private chef for select clientele.
I know for sure I had classes at JWU like labs that helped me carve my way to where I am now. I know how to make vegetarian cuisine, sports for athletes, full-scale dinners for clientele, healthy dessert for my players — that all came in handy due to JWU and helped my foundation in nutrition.”
Kristina Johnson ’24
After graduating from the first cohort of JWU’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, where her entire cohort achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), Johnson took a job as a medical-surgical nurse at Newport Hospital, caring for patients on the adult cardiac and stroke floor.
What I think Johnson & Wales does differently is the face-to-face opportunity. The majority of accelerated programs are fully online with just in-person clinicals. We are brick and mortar. You come to class, ask questions, meet and collaborate with your peers and get to ask your faculty members questions directly.”

Marshall Davis used the foundational knowledge he learned in JWU Charlotte’s Applied Food Science B.S. program to propel him into a career as a junior product development chef for Archer-Daniel Midlands. While attending JWU, Marshall enhanced his technical knowledge of food and gained insights into the operations of the food retail and commercial sectors.
