Refunds & Enrollment Disputes

Requesting a Refund

If your financial aid or payments exceed what you owe, the difference is refunded to you. When your student account has a credit balance, you request the refund — it isn’t issued automatically. Start the process in jwuLink, then choose how you want to recieve your refund. JWU delivers refunds through BankMobile Disbursements, powered by BMTX.

When Refunds are Issued

Refunds are not processed until the fourth week of the term. Parent PLUS Loan refunds are mailed to the parent borrower, not the student, unless the parent has designated otherwise on the loan application.

Tuition Refund Policy

Refunds tied to withdrawing from a course or from the university follow the university’s tuition refund policy, which is separate from a credit balance refund. Student health insurance, program fees, and room and board are nonrefundable.

University Enrollment Disputes

If you left the university under extenuating circumstances without formally withdrawing, you can dispute your enrollment for that term.

  • Disputes must be submitted within 30 days after the end of the term in dispute. Disputes submitted after 30 days are not considered.
  • You must provide documentation demonstrating serious and compelling reasons for the withdrawal, and explaining why it’s being requested after the fact.
  • Send supporting documentation by fax to 401-598-1789. Include your full name and student ID.
  • Decisions are made within 10 business days and sent to the email address on your dispute form. No adjustments to tuition, fees or financial aid are made until the dispute is reviewed and either approved or denied.
