Dr. Victoria M. Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Cultural, Environmental, and Global Studies at Salve Regina University, where she also serves as Program Coordinator for the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minor. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from Rutgers University, where her dissertation examined collective identity and online activism, and she is currently pursuing an M.S. in Organizational Transformation and Leadership at Salve.

Dr. Gonzalez’s teaching and research center on social movements, digital activism, intersectionality, and anti-racist pedagogy, with a focus on how marginalized communities use media and technology to challenge inequality. Her recent scholarship appears in Media, Culture & Society and Sociological Perspectives, and she is the author of The Sociological Imagination (Cognella, 2025).

An award-winning educator recognized with Salve Regina’s Inclusive Classroom Award and Student Organization Advisor of the Year, Dr. Gonzalez is deeply committed to inclusive, community-engaged teaching. Beyond the classroom, she serves on the Board of Directors for The Womxn Project Education Fund and actively organizes public programming that bridges academic inquiry with civic dialogue on equity, justice, and social change.
