Biography and Expertise

An educator for over 40 years, I earned my BA in English from Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio. Following a John Keck summer fellowship in American Studies at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, I earned my MA in English and American Studies at Pepperdine. The final round of my formal education came through the interdisciplinary doctoral program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where I earned my Ph.D. in English, with major studies in American literature before 1900 and prose fiction in English and with minor studies in American history (women and religion), women’s studies, and African American literature. I have been a faculty member in the English Department at Johnson & Wales University since Fall 1999.
