Biography and Expertise
Sarah C. DeCataldo brings over 20 years of experience in criminal justice and nonprofit management to her teaching at Johnson & Wales University. She began her career as a Victim Advocate with Day One, supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking through the criminal justice system. Over the course of two decades, she has held various leadership positions in victim services organizations, including her last role as Deputy Director of Advancement at Sojourner House, where she helped grow the organization’s budget from $900,000 to over $5 million and supported the establishment of Rhode Island’s first shelter for human trafficking survivors. In 2021, Sarah founded Charis, LLC, a nonprofit consulting firm that has helped organizations across the country raise nearly $100 million through her fund development, grants management, and strategic planning services. She holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Johnson & Wales University and an M.S. in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University.
