Biography and Expertise

As a retired commissioned officer in the United States Army, I have over 23 years of experience in leading diverse multi-disciplined organizations in a variety of different environments under a variety of different conditions. My skills include supervising and developing subordinate leaders; team building; strategic planning and communications; managing multiple budgets; conducting project management; supervising organizational training; and coordinating and scheduling future and current operations.

Specifically, in higher educational leadership, I have over ten years of educational program management, department level administration, curriculum development and classroom instructional experience. I personally led an academic department and professional development program that provided leadership and military vocational training to college students across eleven local universities and colleges in the greater Providence and Southeastern Massachusetts area. My daily duties involved the recruitment, retention, mentorship, academic advisement and career counseling of over 85 enrolled under-represented “Scholar-Athlete-Leader” students and the direct supervision of a departmental staff of 11 administrators and educators. Program stewardship required establishing and enforcing departmental policies and overseeing staff training and development. More recently, I have held Adjunct Professor positions with both the New England Institute of Technology and Park University providing both in classroom and hybrid instruction for a series of undergraduate and graduate level courses in Leadership, Program Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management and Communications period.

In the private sector, I have successfully managed a 125,000 square foot retail establishment with annual sales in excess of $53 million for a major international corporation. Under my watch, we grossed over $3 million in profit while successfully supervising over 250 employees.

Currently, I am employed by the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) as a Program Integrator and I am responsible for leading a Program Support Team (PST) comprised of functional experts, including engineers, quality assurance specialists, industrial specialists, and contracting personnel. I act as DCMA’s primary representative to the Department of Defense procuring customers and accurately assess on-site defense contractor performance, predicting future performance and making actionable recommendations related to future programmatic efforts throughout all phases of the program’s acquisition lifecycle. In addition, I analyze program health based on program cost, schedule and technical performance. I am level III DAWIA certified in program management, and I am a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps.

I have managed operating budgets more than $1 million, re-structured organizations, maintained and managed facilities, streamlined operating procedures, supervised US and Foreign VIP visits and personally conducted countless high-level information and decision briefings.

I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell with a BS in Industrial Technology; I have an MBA degree in International Business from Long Island University; and completed my Doctorate in Higher Educational Leadership at Johnson and Wales University. My educational background allows me to tap technical solutions to complex concepts and apply them using best business practices. My military education and experience have further shaped and honed my interpersonal skills and abilities to lead and influence others.
