Biography and Expertise
I received a B.S. in Accounting and B.S. in Business Administration from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1996. I went on to receive a Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 2000. After graduating from law school, I spent more than five years in private practice with Hedrick Eatman Gardner and Kincheloe in Charlotte, North Carolina and Raymond James Financial, Inc. in St. Petersburg, Florida. During this time, my areas of practice were in employment litigation, civil litigation, and constitutional law. I have represented several Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies. I have filed briefs and presented oral arguments before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court, as well as, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2008, I was admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. My scholarly work focuses on the areas of workers’ compensation law, trial techniques, employment law, and constitutional law. I have made presentations at national conferences on topics including privacy and the Supreme Court. I am also very involved in the American Bar Association, the national association of lawyers in the United States. I provide consulting services to companies in the areas of contract negotiations and human resource policies and practices. In addition, I serve as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Michelle, and two children, Nicholas and Morgan.
