Biography and Expertise
Mari is a nationally board certified counselor, holds a fellow in thanatology, is a death doula, Director of her private practice, GracePointe Grief Center and author. Most recently, Mari has become an official member of the Rhode Island Medical Reserve Corps, Trauma Response Team RIMRT-TRT).
As a full time professor at Johnson & Wales for over twenty-three years, Mari was recognized as a faculty expert and was the cover article of the JWU Alumni Magazine November 2 2015. Moreover, 2015 also brought Mari the honor of a Fulbright Specialist to The University of Zululand in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, the Jefferson Award and Bay View Academy Alumna of the Year.
Mari is the author of two books, GriefSPEAK: Stories of Grief and Loss, Volumes 1 and 2. Her new book entitled “A Memory of Elephants” is written for grieving children and their parents/.caregivers.
