Biography and Expertise
Dr. Lawrence “Larry” Filippelli has led school safety and crisis response for over 15 years. As the Chief Executive Officer at Woodstock Academy, he is responsible for all aspects of instruction, operations, and finance. The Academy boasts two open campuses, international dorms, and a residential life program, as well as an Arts Center that brings in national talent and showcases shows from across the country, presenting unique challenges to school safety. Previously the Superintendent of Lincoln Public Schools, he spearheaded significant infrastructure upgrades to enhance student success and safety. Filippelli is a recognized expert in integrating structural design with emergency preparedness and response. He has served on the Rhode Island School Safety Committee for over a decade, providing guidance on security plans across multiple districts and presenting at national education conferences. Filippelli earned his BA and an MA in American History from Providence College, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University.
