John J Krupa
Professor College of Business Management and Marketing Providence
Biography and Expertise
Dr. Krupa has 2 decades of business experience as an entrepreneur and in corporate management. He’s filled roles in brand management and sales management in jewelry manufacturing and worked as a district manager in fast-paced retail coffee chains.
During those years in business, he observed imbalances and fear in organizational cultures and found outdated management practices to impact employees’ motivation, engagement, and performance.
After experiencing dysfunctional systems, underdeveloped leadership capabilities, and misuse of human capital, he pursued professional development paths that would equip him with knowledge, skills, and confidence to become part of the solution to ineffective leadership. He earned graduate degrees in business (MBA), mental health counseling (MA), and organizational leadership (DBA).
He has taught marketing courses since 1998 at the undergraduate level while providing academic and personal counseling to hundreds of graduate students on a part-time basis. He’s also taught courses in organizational leadership/change at the graduate level since 2011.
John has consulted with 60+ small businesses and worked with the RI Small Business Development Center to provide consulting and coaching services that challenged inaccurate assumptions and misaligned strategies.
John’s most natural strength is utilizing his genuine compassion, humor, and emotional intelligence to disrupt the status quo and bring hope to leaders and employees through shifting mindsets, improving self-awareness, and choosing new patterns of living, working, and relating with others.
