Lecturer College of Arts & Sciences Humanities Providence

Biography and Expertise

While working towards my M.A. in History at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. I began interning for my home state Congresswoman, Claudine Schneider (RI). Prior to graduation, I began working full-time in her Capitol Hill office.
After two years of working on the Hill, I was recruited by a national business trade association, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). I worked at NFIB for five years as an analyst and lobbyist on a wide range of issues, before the Congress and the Administration.
In 1990 I was appointed Regional Advocate for Region IX of the U.S. Small Business Administration under President George H.W. Bush. After serving in that capacity for three years, I returned to New England and began college again for a degree in Theatre Performance.
I received my second B.A. in 1998. While performing locally, I began working in retail in a variety of positions for Banana Republic, rising to the position of Head of Store. After working for ten years for Banana Republic, I took a management position with COACH, until my return to graduate school in 2007.
I began teaching as an Adjunct Instructor in the History Department at Rhode Island College (RIC) in 2008. In 2010, I received my M.F.A. in Theatre Performance and Society (Theatre for Social Justice) and began teaching as an adjunct at several local schools. These included RIC, Roger Williams University and Johnson & Wales (JWU).
In 2016, I was hired by JWU as a Lecturer in the Humanities Department, where I still am at present.
