Biography and Expertise
Felice D. Billups, Ed.D., is a professor in the Educational Leadership doctoral program at Johnson and Wales University (JWU) in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Billups teaches courses in the Nature of Higher Education, Organizational Theory and Behavior in Higher Education, and Doctoral Dissertation Seminar I and II, focused on educational research methods, dissertation manuscript preparation, and scholarly writing. She specializes in organizational culture studies and qualitative and mixed methods research applications; she recently authored Qualitative Data Collection Tools: Design, Development, & Applications (Sage, 2020), as well as numerous articles and presentations regarding qualitative inquiry.
Prior to joining the faculty at JWU in 2008, Dr. Billups served as a senior administrator in the private college sector for several decades. She directed strategic and long-range planning, institutional and market research programs, regional and specialized accreditation, academic program review, institutional effectiveness, and as a chief institutional advancement officer.
Billups earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from George Peabody College at Vanderbilt University; her M.A. in Higher Education Administration from RI College; and her B.A. in Fine Arts History from Tufts University, with concentrations in religion and history. She earned a certificate in the Management of Non-Profit Arts Organizations from the University of Rhode Island, and has completed her certifications for the Protection of Human Subjects and Informed Consent from the National Institutes of Health and from the CITI Training Institute.
