Biography and Expertise

Dr. Erin Faraclas is currently an Associate Professor at Johnson & Wales University (JWU) in the College of Health and Wellness. Erin came to JWU from MCPHS in Worcester and Rocky Mountain University (RMU) in Provo, Utah. Prior to DPT education, Erin was the Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director for nine years at Provo College in Provo, Utah.

In 2003, Erin obtained a master’s degree in physical therapy from AIC, then earned a DPT degree from Temple University in 2008, and a PhD in Health Promotion and Wellness from RMU in 2021. Erin’s areas of expertise include neurologic rehabilitation, health promotion, wellness, qualitative and mixed-method research, and population health. Erin holds additional credentials, including a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), Multiple Sclerosis Certified Specialist (MSCS), Certified Clinical and Advanced Clinical Instructor, and an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Clinical Instructor Trainer.

In addition to teaching, Erin provides service to the physical therapy profession by serving in several state and national leadership roles. Erin is the newly elected Treasurer for the APTA’s Academy of Education, a national position in an organization dedicated to enhancing DPT and PTA education. Erin also serves the Federal State Board of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) as an item writer for the National Physical Therapy (licensure) Exam (NPTE). At the state level, Erin serves as an APTA voting delegate for the state of Massachusetts.

Erin also has an active research agenda on population-based health, quality of life, Multiple Sclerosis, and the intersection of these three topics. Erin enjoys mentoring and engaging students in all aspects of her research.
