Biography and Expertise

Don Taylor Bio Page:
I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Johnson & Wales University (JWU): Charlotte Campus, where I teach a variety of courses ranging from Introduction to Sociology to Honors Sociology Seminar.
I’ve also taught Human Services and Social Work courses at Central Piedmont Community College, Gardner-Webb University, Bennett College and Johnson C Smith University.
I received my Masters’ Degree in Social Work from Case-Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1985. I’ve been a Social Worker since 1980, having worked in Mental Health, Child Welfare, Mother/Infant/Child, Interpersonal and family violence.
I am also a facilitator in the NOVA program in Mecklenburg county. This program works with men convicted of domestic violence.
I’ve written a group treatment curriculum, SEED: Self-Esteem and Expression Development for African-American adolescents. The text is currently being updated for re-release.
I have also completed and self published two fiction novels, BUGGIN’: A Brother’s Tale and CROOKED!. Both are available at amazon.com, soft cover or e-book format.
I am also a budding jazz/gospel/blues saxophonist. I am one of the musicians with the Men Standing for Christ Gospel Group out of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte.
