Biography and Expertise

I have 30 years of law enforcement experience, and I retired with the rank of Commander with experience in the Uniform Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Community Policing Division, Internal Affairs Division, and SWAT team commander, and I was a certified team sniper. I have handled criminal investigations from bank robberies, violent rape investigations, officer-involved shooting incidents, in-custody deaths, several hundred murder investigations, and everything in between. Additionally, I was a member of the C.A.R.T. Team (Child Abduction Response Team), a member of the Cold Case Homicide Unit within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the President of the Central Florida Robbery Unit, which encompassed law enforcement investigators from four counties. In addition to my law enforcement achievements, I have earned a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration and Criminal Justice Administration at Northcentral University and possess a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. I have been an adjunct professor for over 15 years and currently serve as an adjunct professor at several universities, teaching in the fields of criminal justice and business studies in both classroom and online settings across the United States. I believe in and follow Mezirow’s Transformative Learning Theory, which posits that most students have core beliefs (preconceived theories) about law enforcement based on experiences they have had, witnessed in friends/family, or observed in news media outlets. According to the Knowles Principles of Andragogy, students are more interested in learning subjects that they believe are most relevant to them.
