All You Need is a FAFSA
Applying for financial aid is easy: simply submit the FAFSA to be considered for aid from both JWU and the U.S. federal government.
JWU uses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form to determine how much financial aid a student applicant is eligible to receive. All students, both new and returning, must file a new FAFSA before each school year to be considered for scholarships, loans and other forms of aid for that year.
JWU Early FAFSA Grant — Incoming domestic first-year students, including transfer students, who have applied to and been accepted by JWU and complete the FAFSA before February 1 may be eligible for a renewable scholarship of up to $1,000.
When to Submit the FAFSA
The FAFSA opens in early October for the following school year. File by February 1 to be considered for our Early FAFSA Grant, and by March 1, our preferred deadline, to get full consideration for aid. The federal deadline is much later — June 30 after the school year ends — but waiting until then may limit the aid available to you. The earlier you file, the more you may be eligible to receive.

After Completing the FAFSA
Financial Verification Documents
Once you submit your FAFSA online, JWU’s Student Financial Services office may request additional documentation to verify information you provided. If you receive this request, you must fulfill it before you can be eligible to receive an aid offer.
If You Will Be Accepting Student Loans
All federal student loan borrowers must complete an entrance and exit counseling session where you will be advised on your obligations to pay back your loans, as well as a Master Promissory Note, which explains the terms and conditions of the borrower’s federal student loans.
Applying for Outside Scholarships
You can also apply for scholarships from organizations beyond JWU or the U.S. government.
Once you’ve been accepted and have paid your deposit, you’ll have access to a powerful search tool called Scholarship Search, where you can find verified scholarships to help pay for school.
