Providence Safety & Security

JWU Providence Campus Safety & Security is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team is responsible for the enforcement of university policies (including emergency preparedness) and providing security services for JWU students, faculty and staff.

Welcome to the JWU Community

Safety is foundational while you’re pursuing your education. That’s why Campus Safety & Security works around the clock to patrol and monitor the entire campus. We believe that fostering a safe, inclusive and vibrant community is what makes our students and our university so successful.

Balancing safety and security with freedom and privacy is also important to us. We do our best to keep this balance by collaborating with the community, interacting with students and having the right training. We also remind our community of the public safety campaign: “If you see something, say something.” Help us maintain a safe campus by reporting any suspicious activity.

We look forward to seeing you around campus!

How Our Team Keeps You Safe

Access Control

Entry to all campus buildings is controlled and monitored by an electronic card swipe access control system. Stop by a Safety office to pick up a lanyard for your ID.

Blue Lights on Campus ✆

If you feel threatened on campus, look for the nearest Blue Light emergency telephone. Familiarize yourself with the locations on the Providence Campus map.

CARE Team

A valuable resource on the Providence Campus, the Crisis Aversion & Response Evaluation (CARE) Team is a group of campus administrators that share and coordinate information about the behavior of students who appear to pose a risk of harm to self or others. The team develops strategies, when needed, for early invention in accordance with existing university policies.

Education & Prevention Programming

Curious about learning CPR or self-defense? The Safety team runs educational and prevention programming during the academic year, including workshops, guest speakers and trainings.

Safe Walk Escort Program

If you feel unsafe walking alone late at night, take advantage of JWU’s Safe Walk program, where a member of the JWU community will walk with you or give you a ride.
